Film Alternatives, the cinema student group, sponsors various activities and screenings including Women in the Director's Chair, The Student Academy Adwards, the In the Can Show, and guest artists. They also function as coordinating committee staff members for The Big Muddy Film Festival.

The student photography organization Photogenesis provides activities in conjunction with the academic program in the Department of Cinema and Photography. Photogenesis arranges for guest artists, exhibits of student work and various field trips to galleries, museums and other photography-related institutions.
